Services

Peening: a cold working (work hardening) of the metal surface (substrate), in which the substrate is bombarded (hammering) with a variety of media (also Known as shot)

Variety of Shot (media)

  • Steel
  • Glass bead
  • Cut wire
  • Ceramic

Glass Bead Peening: Cold working of metal substrate using glass bead.

Slurry Peening: a glass bead/water mixture solution used to clean, seal and peen surface of substrate metal

Flapper Peening: Also known as Roto peening created by 3M during the Viet Nam war to provide local peening capabilities and for straightening bend surfaces such as gun barrels, turbine shafts etc.

Abrasive Blasting: used to remove scale from forging and heat treating along with paint and rust. Most common abrasive used:

Common Abrasive

  • Aluminum Oxide
  • Silicone Carbide
  • Tungsten Carbide
  • Garmet

JT8D Compressor Blades

  • Repair and overhaul stages 1 through 13

Abrasive Tumbling Cleaning: Cleaning process done in a tumbling machine using glass bead or aluminum oxide.

Consulting:

  • Machine setup procedures
  • Peening development process
  • Reverse engineering on PMA parts for shot peening

Training:

  • Personnel training and Certify under FAA 145-9 and 10 requirements

Quality: Quality system has been approved by the FAA and accredited under AS 9003

What can shot peening do for your Product?

Increase...

  • Gears product life by 300-500%
  • Connecting rod life by 400%
  • Crank shaft life by 100-1000%
  • Spring life by 500-1000%
  • Drilling hammer heads by 300- 600%

What improvements could you expect from shot peening!

  • Prevents fatigue failure in metal surfaces
  • Prevents stress corrosion cracking on substrate surfaces.
  • Closes porosity in gear boxes, castings, powdered gears and components
  • Increase and enhance lubrication capabilities on bearing surfaces and gears
  • Prevents galling and fretting by work hardening the substrate or mating surfaces
  • Provide uniformed texture surfaces to increase adhesion for hard coating, chroming and powder coating.
  • Used in forming and straightening of metal parts; example: out around Diesel engine cylinder increase spring height
